Selam Aleykum Dear Guests!
We are happy to welcome you to the ceramics studio of El-Cheber. «El-Cheber» means «The Land of Artisans» in the Crimean Tatar language.
Here you will discover the craft of Rustem Skibin, the studio’s founder and master artisan.
You will learn his life story and the studio’s history. You will attend a workshop on ceramics which includes a variety of production techniques (potter’s wheel, sculpture and painting). You will take part in the creation of pottery with your own hands. You will uncover ancient mysteries and learn the language of symbols in the Crimean Tatar ornaments. You will explore exhibitions at our museum and see a showcase of works produced in the studio. And you will buy souvenirs and our unique and original handicraft pottery.
El-Cheber’s is dedicated to the study and revival of ethnic crafts and culture of Crimea. Our ceramic studio complex is built in the style of a Crimean Tatar traditional house. A picturesque courtyard, a small
pond and a cool summer canopy with sofas and tables will immerse you in the historical and cultural world of Crimea, where living is slow-paced, calm and peaceful.
Our workshop is located in the suburbs of Simferopol, in one of the modern settlements of the Crimean Tatars and Crimean Greeks (Urums) with the Greek name of Acropolis.[nggallery id=28]
